I have been playing with dolls for more years than I care to admit, but I have been in the business of repairing dolls since 1992 when I opened a doll shop in the Amish market in Westminster.  Since leaving the Cockeysville market in 2005, I have moved around a bit until 2008 when I moved to Timonium, but I  had to close that location in 2022. I still do all sorts of doll repairs to all types of dolls –everything from peg-woodens from the early 1800s to modern dolls and everything in between, it's just that now I have to be creative about where I can meet people.

It’s hard to list all the things that I do because there are so many things!   First, I try to do as little as possible and to keep the dolls as original and appropriate to the period. When someone wants to update a wig, I try to stay with a wig from the same time period or is at least made from a material that existed when the doll was originally made. If clothes are needed, I try to stay with styles and fabrics that the doll might have worn when she was new.

I do all types of restringing from small 5-part Madame Alexanders to 15-part antique bisque dolls with papier-mâché bodies. If parts are damaged or missing, I can handle that as well.

Eyes - Sleep eyes are no problem – I can restore or replace broken eyes so that your doll can sleep again.

Fingers and Toes – I can replace papier-mâché or composition doll fingers and toes.  Dolls made of other materials may or may not be as easily fixable, but I can definitely make them much better than they were.

Cracks and Crazing - Patching, filling and painting cracks is a big part of what I do.

If your doll has a problem not listed here, give me a call!  I can probably help or refer you to someone else who can.

Where one project ends, often another begins – so many dolls, so little time…
